Allegra Wermuth joined the Colorado Symphony in September 2003 as Assistant Principal Second Violin. She holds degrees from Oberlin Conservatory and Northern Illinois University where she studied with Roland and Almita Vamos and Shmuel Ashkenasi, respectively. Along with her orchestral duties, she maintains a large large teaching studio with students ranging from age 3 to 17. She teaches at Preludio, an intensive summer program for highly talented young violinists at Ithaca College. Allegra is an avid knitter and is the co-founder of the online magazine, Petite Purls, which offers free patterns for children's garments. She also designs knitwear with her own pattern line, Fiddlestix Designs. She lives with her husband and daughter as close to the mountains as she can.
