Fritz Foss
Fritz Foss, a native of Glen Ellyn, Illinois began his musical studies singing in the Glen Ellyn Children’s Chorus, with whom he performed and recorded alongside the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in performance from Boston University, where he studied horn with Daniel Katzen and Eric Ruske. Fritz was a member of the Paramount Brass Quintet and recorded Sheperd’s Hey with them, the Vermont Symphony Orchestra, and the New World Symphony Orchestra. He has attended numerous music festivals, including the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra, the Jerusalem International Symphony Orchestra, the National Orchestral Institute, Verbier Festival Orchestra, and the Spoleto USA Festival with whom he performed a concerto in 2004. He enjoys teaching and has served on the faculties of the New England Conservatory Extension Division, the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, and the Boston Conservatory. Fritz joined the Colorado Symphony as Assistant Principal Horn in 2005 and won the Fourth Horn position the following year.
