George Banks
A Bachelors of Music from the University of Colorado and a Masters of Music from Northwestern University prepared George Banks for joining the Colorado Symphony in 1980. He has also served as Principal Cellist with the Central City Opera from 1979 to the present. His recordings are many and varied including those with the Columbine Chamber Players, the Boulder Composers, many with the Colorado Symphony, and “Face on the Barroom Floor” from the Central City production of the Ballad of Baby Doe. Classical is his favorite musical genre and Bach and Beethoven his favorite composers. A nature photographer, he has had exhibits of his work in Boettcher Hall and has juried shows. He also enjoys electronic music, hiking, skiing and exploring Utah. His wife, Carolyn Kuban, is a harpist and music therapist, and his son, Andrew Banks has been a Colorado Symphony chorus member.
