Born into a very musical family, Canadian cellist Judith McIntyre was naturally guided and encouraged towards a career in music.  She began musical studies at the age of four on the violin and switched to the cello at the age of seven.  She went on as a scholarship student at the University of Toronto and Manhattan School of Music obtaining a Bachelors and Masters Degrees of Music graduating with the Pablo Casals Graduation Award.  Her main teachers have been Daniel Domb and Alan Stepansky.  Prior to winning her position in the Colorado Symphony, Ms McIntyre was an Artist’s International Music Auditions Finalist and as member and principal cello of the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra in Switzerland, played in some of the world's greatest concert halls.  As soloist she has performed with the Colorado Symphony as well as the orchestras of Detroit, Michigan, Windsor, Ontario, University of Toronto and the Colorado Young Sinfonia.  Ever active as chamber musician, she has performed around the world and is a regular performer here in Colorado. In addition to her current position as third chair cello in the Colorado Symphony, she spends her summers performing in various festivals including the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music, the Grand Teton Music Festival, the Strings Music Festival in Steamboat Springs and the Verbier Festival.  Ms. McIntyre currently lives in Boulder, Colorado with her husband, two dogs and two cats.  When not playing she spends her time hiking, cooking, camping, skiing and snow-shoeing.
