The Colorado Symphony

Rachel Segal

Rachel Segal, a native of Philadephia, began her violin studies at age three. As a young artist, Ms. Segal appeared as soloist with many orchestras in the Philadelphia area, including the Philadelphia Orchestra, with which she appeared three times before the age of seventeen as a competition winner. Ms. Segal received her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Michigan in the studio of Paul Kantor and her Master of Music degree from The Yale School of Music in the studio of Sidney Harth. Other teachers have included Jascha Brodsky, and Philadelphia Orchestra members Barbara Govatos and Jerome Wigler. In addition, her travels have taken her to five different continents, performing with various ensembles as an orchestral and chamber musician.

Ms. Segal moved to Denver in 2003 to begin her tenure with the Colorado Symphony. In 2005, she won the position of Concertmaster of the Central City Opera Orchestra. Since settling in Denver, Rachel has built an active teaching and performing career, teaching violin privately and at Regis University, and participating regularly in outreach performances and residencies with the Quetzal Quartet. Rachel is also an avid runner, a recreational skier, and a lover of Mexican food, all of which are Colorado specialties.
