Susan Cahill

Susan has been a member of the Colorado Symphony bass section since 1997. She was appointed Acting Ass't Principal during the 2002 and 2003 seasons. Prior to joining the CSO she was Principal Bass of the Louisiana Philharmonic in New Orleans where she also taught Double Bass at Tulane University. She has an active teaching career and has given masterclasses at the University of Colorado and the University of Northern Colorado. She has also taught at the University of Colorado in 2001, 2001, and 2007. From 2006-2009 Susan served on the faculty of the Metro State College of Denver and in 2009 she began teaching at the Lamont School of Music at DU. She has been active in chamber music and festivals in the West and elsewhere, performing with the Colorado Chamber Players, Strings in the Mountains in Steamboat Springs, Santa Fe Pro Musica, and the Peter Britt Festival in Jacksonville, OR. When Susan isn't rocking the Beethoven 9 recitative (see photo) you can find her hitting the coolest thrift stores in Denver for stylin' duds, or chasing after her twins, Graham and Violet.
