Raised in Texas and surrounded by a supportive family of musicians and music lovers, Tristan cultivated a rich musical education. After two successful terms as the top ranked high school bassoonist in the state, he decided to pursue music as a career.

A lover of chamber music, Tristan has performed at the Idyllwild, Sarasota, Aspen and Marlboro Music Festivals and performs extensively around the Greater Denver area. He received his B.M. at the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music and his M.M. at the University of Michigan. His principal teachers include William Winstead, Richard Beene and Per Hannevold.

He also served as Principal Bassoon on the 2005 Grammy Award winning classical album Songs of Innocence and Experience by William Bolcom, conducted by Leonard Slatkin and recorded with the University of Michigan Symphony Orchestra.

In addition to his work with the Colorado Symphony, Tristan is also Adjunct Professor of Bassoon at the University of Northern Colorado. He has also hosted panel presentations at Denver Comic Con where he is able to combine his love of classical music and his fandom of the “Star Wars” films.

In his free time Tristan enjoys bar trivia nights, karaoke, board games, writing, cheesy B-movies, and taking care of his cat, Domino.
