Black Violin, named one of the hottest bands at SXSW in 2013, was started 10 years ago by Wil Baptiste and Kevin “Kev Marcus” Sylvester. They’ve performed in almost every state in the US and have toured internationally in places such as Dubai, Prague, and South Africa. They’ve participated in everything from NFL celebrations for three Super Bowls, to the official President’s Inaugural Ball, at which they even met President Obama face-to-face. They’ve also done a long series of musical collaborations with a wide range of musical icons, ranging from hip-hop stars like P. Diddy and Kanye West, to rock and soul legends like Aerosmith, Aretha Franklin, and The Eagles. They maintain a heavy touring schedule, performing an average of 200 shows a year. The New York Times said that “Black Violin works hard, but makes it all look like play… Sometimes they play with the intense seriousness of orchestral soloists; at others, they fiddle as if at a hoedown; at still others they strum the violin and viola like guitars.”

If you haven’t yet joined REMIX, there’s still time! You can get a 2015/2016 season membership here. In addition to the Black Violins, here’s the other upcoming REMIX concerts:
