In the face of COVID-19 cancellations, members of the Colorado Symphony, who had planned to spend 2020 celebrating Ludwig Van Beethoven's birthday, decided to play a virtual, socially distanced, online rendition of "Ode to Joy." The instrumental take on the hopeful song kept us all going as the pandemic crashed into Denver. It's time to play it again.

Virtual Colorado Christmas Performance Debuts December 18

Tune into coloradosymphony.org starting Dec. 18 for “A Colorado Christmas,” a family-friendly, virtual show streamed from Boettcher Concert Hall. Directed by Taylor Martin, it includes Denver vocalist Devin DeSantis narrating ” ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas,” carols, “new winter tunes, and even some newly arranged surprises,” according to the Symphony. Groups include the Colorado Symphony, Colorado Symphony Chorus and Colorado Children’s Chorale.

The Colorado Symphony is committed to #PlayOn, and the latest way it will be doing so is through the Colorado Symphony Association’s new Virtual Stage. Virtual Stage is an on-demand digital video and audio content portal available through the Colorado Symphony’s website. The first Virtual Stage concert, which became available on Dec. 1, is a full-length video of the Colorado Symphony’s performance of Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons” at Red Rocks from earlier this summer. This concert was one of about two dozen that the Colorado Symphony performed live in a socially-distanced setting with a limited amount of tickets available.

Colorado Symphony Cancels Concerts, Launches Virtual Platform

With Boettcher Concert Hall performances cancelled through May 30, 2021, the Colorado Symphony has unveiled Virtual Stage, a digital content platform through ColoradoSymphony.org developed to allow the orchestra to Play On over the next few months while generating revenue for musician salaries and continued operations. Through Virtual Stage, patrons can pay to watch videos of archival performances and never-seen-before shows that were recorded safely, without an audience, through the fall at Boettcher.
