Colorado Symphony Bassist Susan Cahill was featured on the October 2 episode of the PBS miniseries Now Here This "Becoming Mozart". Host Scott Yoo and pianist Stewart Goodyear visit Yoo’s Festival Mozaic where Goodyear learns to direct an orchestra from the piano while improvising the solos of Mozart’s twentieth piano concerto. While Red Rocks Amphitheatre's normal season was butchered by the pandemic, the venue still managed to set some records in 2020 and the Colorado Symphony will go down in the books as the musical outfit with the most Red Rock shows in any single season.

The Colorado Symphony has teamed up with Wonderbound, a contemporary ballet company, to host an international competition in which one original composition will be picked for a performance held next year. The compositions that win the competition will be the soundtrack to two live dance performances premiering in Denver. The Colorado Symphony has been collaborating regularly with Wonderbound for about five years. The idea for the competition sprouted from discussions on trying something new for the upcoming performance season.

Following its first, sold-out experiment in socially distanced concerts at Red Rocks last week, Colorado Symphony has announced another 10 shows in its Red Rocks Amphitheatre acoustic series. Limited to 175 audience members at the 9,450-capacity venue, the shows take advantage of Red Rocks’ open-air beauty and acoustically tuned environs to present unamplified sets from the stage. They also represent the first proper concerts performed at the world-famous venue in the 2020 summer season.

Last week, the Colorado Symphony debuted the first five concerts of its Acoustic on the Rocks series at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, all of which sold out. This month, the orchestra will continue its run of shows in the series with the Colorado Symphony Strings Encore and a new set of performances with the Colorado Symphony Brass and Percussion Ensembles.
