Colorado Symphony To Unveil Charles Burrell Portrait At Boettcher Concert Hall

Trailblazing double bassist spent more than 30 years with the Denver Symphony Orchestra

The Colorado Symphony Association (CSA) will unveil a portrait of trailblazing double bassist Charles “Charlie” Burrell in a ceremony at Boettcher Concert Hall on December 4, 2021. The unveiling will take place at 7:00pm in the Boettcher Concert Hall lobby, prior to the Colorado Symphony’s performance that evening, featuring Elgar’s Enigma Variations and Eduard Tubin’s Double Bass Concerto featuring Colorado Symphony principal bass Steve Metcalf.

Broadway’s Crystal Monee Hall announced as featured soloist for November 27 world premiere

The Colorado Symphony has announced the addition of Crystal Monee Hall as featured vocalist on the November 27 performance of At Last – A Tribute to Etta James. This world premiere performance is being created and presented in collaboration with the Etta James Estate and Crystal Monee Hall. Crystal Monee Hall is a singer/songwriter, composer, vocal arranger and producer and music director based in New York City. Her varied career has included roles on Broadway (“RENT” and Kristen Chenoweth’s “For the Girls”), sold out tours with Mickey Hart (Grateful Dead) and Dave Schools (Widespread Panic), and guest appearance on the CW’s Walker and HBO’s High Maintenance. She has released three original albums, with work from her most recent EP "If You Breathe” called 'riveting' by Billboard Magazine.

Richard Krugman and Julie Rubsam named Board Co-Chairs following retirement of Jerome H. Kern

The Colorado Symphony Association Board of Trustees have announced the appointment of Richard Krugman and Julie Rubsam as Board Co-Chairs. The longtime members of the Colorado Symphony Board of Trustees succeed Jerome H. Kern who retired from his post as Colorado CEO and Chair of the Board of Trustees on September 2, 2021.  

“Having the opportunity to work with Julie Rubsam and support the Colorado Symphony as we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic is a unique opportunity, said Krugman. “The organization is well positioned and poised for an exciting season.”

Colorado Symphony Announces Conductor Change For Beethoven Symphony No. 7

Valentina Peleggi replaces Aram Demirjian for November 5-7 performances at Boettcher concert Hall

The Colorado Symphony has announced a conductor change for their November 5-7 performance of Beethoven's Symphony No. 7, as Aram Demirjian has had to withdraw from the appearance due to personal reasons. Replacing Mr. Demirjian will be Valentina Peleggi, described by the BBC Music Magazine as a “rising star” while The Guardian said in July 2021 that she “conducts with marvelous flair and precision."
