The Colorado Symphony has announced a reorganized Associate Board and Young Professional group — the Crescendo Society — debuting for the 2019/20 concert season. The Associate Board provides an environment for engaged young professionals to learn leadership, development, and non-profit management skills, network with their peers and other business and community leaders, and support a sustainable, professional symphony orchestra for the Colorado community. The Crescendo Society is a collective of Young Professionals, concert-enthusiasts, and philanthropists engaged in the community to support and promote the Colorado Symphony.

Colorado Symphony To Honor Legendary Bassist Charlie Burrell

“The Jackie Robinson of Classical Music” turns 99 on October 4, 2019

The Colorado Symphony will celebrate the 99th birthday of legendary double bassist Charles “Charlie” Burrell on October 4, 2019 during their performance of Tchaikovsky’s 4th Symphony, commemorating the 70th anniversary of his debut.  Burrell, who started his orchestral career with the then Denver Symphony in 1949, was the first African-American to receive a permanent contract with a major American symphony and is often referred to as “the Jackie Robinson of Classical Music”.

October 3-4 event will examine equitable access to youth music education in Denver

The Colorado Symphony will proudly co-host the first-ever Denver Music Education Convening in conjunction with the Denver Young Artists Orchestra and El Sistema Colorado on October 3 and 4, 2019 at The Commons on Champa. The goal of the convening is to identify and implement actions that increase equity, diversity, and inclusivity for Denver youth music education in a transformational, measurable, and sustainable manner. 

Colorado Symphony Announces Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi Live In Concert At Boettcher Concert Hall

Featuring Composer John Williams’ Complete Score Conducted By Brett Mitchell

The Colorado Symphony will present the Colorado premiere of Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi Thursday, February 27 and Friday February 28, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Boettcher Concert Hall. These performances feature a screening of the complete film Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi, with Oscar®-winning composer John Williams’ musical score performed live to the films by the Colorado Symphony. The concerts will be led by the Colorado Symphony’s Music Director, Brett Mitchell.
