Masterworks 2016/17 takes on a transition of integrating innovative artists with the best of classical symphonic work envisioned with a contemporary twist. The lineup features many of your own Colorado Symphony musicians as spectacular soloists on some of symphonic music’s greatest pieces including the World Premiere of Daniel Kellogg’s Violin Concerto featuring Concertmaster Yumi Hwang-Williams, Mozart’s Concerto for Clarinet performed by the Colorado Symphony’s own Jason Shafer, and Silver Ainomäe on Cello for Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No. 1. Join your Colorado Symphony for preludes; pre-concert events to enhance your experience! Preludes take place at 6:30 pm, in the Concert Hall, before each Masterworks performance and are included with your concert ticket.
Classical music author and historian Betsy Schwarm will share information about the composers and pieces on the program. Ms. Schwarm is a celebrated Denver icon. Catch her in action before hearing your Colorado Symphony!

Ever wonder what your Colorado Symphony musicians think about the music? Come find out! Violist Phillip Stevens hosts an informal Q&A featuring additional Colorado Symphony musicians who are delighted to share their unique point of view on the composers and pieces you'll be hearing.
Be ready to participate! Take your mind, body, and spirit to a deeper listening plane with Catherine Beeson, Assistant Principal Violist and Director of Community Education Programs for your Colorado Symphony. Catherine will guide you to an internal understanding of the music you'll be hearing by encouraging your super powers of inquiry, observation and application.
The 2016/17 Season brings a reprise of comedy and classical fusion this fall
with a special presentation featuring “The Second City Guide to the Symphony”-
a blend of original sketch comedy, new music and orchestral works by masters of
classical music. From Broadway showtunes to romantic evenings with pop
sensations, the Colorado Symphony musicians tackle it all with virtuosic skill!
Highlights include: A Night of Pops: Tribute to Leroy Anderson, Byron Stripling
What a Wonderful World: A Tribute to Louis Armstrong, and Dianne Reeves in Concert.
The Colorado Symphony Family Series is an ideal introduction to the magical
world of the orchestra for the young and the young at heart. Join us for this
entertaining series featuring the best of classical music in settings sure to
capture the imagination! With everything from the zany fun of our annual
Halloween Spooktacular to the delightful and silly, perennial favorite Drums of
the World, and the special showing of the timeless tale Peter and the Wolf. The
Family Series is sure to entertain even the newest symphony fan.

Inside the Score series returns, reinvented to complement our Masterworks concert heavy-hitters. This Inside look offers newcomers and veteran concert goers alike the opportunity to listen and learn more about a specific piece or theme of content that makes up the Masterworks genre. The greatest works of our classical repertoire get a breakdown by our associate conductor, Christopher Dragon, in this series meant to offer a new experience in listening to the greatest music in the word. Whether this is the music you already love or the music that you are learning to adore, come experience our reinvented Inside series.
It’s the return of the wildly-popular Geek Series of concerts! Three years running, this unique series brings the best (and geekiest) of pop culture fun, past and present, to the stage with live orchestration. Embrace your inner audiophile and enjoy one of our Movie at the Symphony series of concerts: Raiders of the Lost Ark or E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial each film is screened in its entirety on large screens in-hall with live symphony orchestra! And don’t forget to don your superhero costume for our 4th edition of Symphonic Tribute to Comic Con: The Tetralogy - back with even more geeky-goodness than before!

The sounds of the holidays fill the air during the month of December with traditional favorites and festive collaborations with your Colorado Symphony. The season begins with Colorado Christmas; the Colorado Symphony's annual collaboration with the Colorado Children's Chorale and the Colorado Symphony Chorus. The Colorado Symphony Chorus is also featured during Handel's Messiah. If the holiday season makes you feel like singing, you are invited to sing with the Chorus at the Handel's Messiah Sing-Along!
The Colorado Symphony strives to collaborate and provide outreach to greater areas of Colorado outside of Downtown Denver. Partner organizations present the orchestra and ensembles from the orchestra at various venues around Colorado and the Front Range.
