The Colorado Symphony announced that five additional concerts have been added to its summer line up at various venues throughout the state. Arvada Center 40th Anniversary Celebration

July 9, 2016 – 7:30 PM
This 40th celebration concert features memorable songs from the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities 40 year musical theatre repertoire, spanning from their first musical production Anything Goes in 1976, to the beautiful presentation of Death Takes a Holiday. The Colorado Symphony and multiple actors will present a concert showcasing previous productions at this venue, as well as glimpse of what is to come. Additionally, the Colorado Symphony will play selections from West Side Story, Miss Saigon, and Oklahoma.
The evening will also include other festive acknowledgments and presentations in honor of the Center’s 40th anniversary. Tickets available at arvadacenter.org .
Season Preview 2016/17! (Free Concert)

This is a special preview of select works on the 2016/17 Season lineup. The Colorado Symphony and guest conductor Brett Mitchell will be taking audience members through a few of the works that will define the next year for the Colorado Symphony.
This is a free concert open to the public, but tickets must be obtained by visiting Boettcher Concert Hall Box Office located at the Denver Performing Arts Complex, 1000 14th Street. The Box Office is open Monday – Friday, 10 am – 6 pm; Saturday, noon – 6 pm; and 90 minutes prior to each performance. Tickets become available starting July 2, 2016.
Summer Serenades

This concert spectacular takes guests through the works of Mozart and more, focusing on the composers’ great serenades. Originating in the Baroque era as performance works dedicated to someone’s honor, this concert will portray some of the best serenades composed through the decades. These pieces are a perfect pairing for a beautiful Colorado summer’s eve, especially as summer date night.

Mozart Under Moonlight

The Colorado Symphony presents “Mozart Under Moonlight” at the Arvada Center for one-night-only. Jayce Ogren, returning to conduct the Colorado Symphony after a wildly popular winter presentation of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, leads the orchestra on a glorious evening celebrating the most revered composer of all time. Colorado Symphony Principal Horn Michael Thornton performs works by two Mozarts: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s well-known Horn Concerto No. 3, then trades his French horn for an eight-foot alphorn for Sinfonia pastorella by Leopold, Wolfgang’s father.

Brass Luminescence – A Celebration of Light

Performing for the first time at Castle Rock’s brand new outdoor amphitheatere in Philip S. Miller Park, Colorado Symphony Brass and Percussion brings audiences a concert of thunderous sound. This production features a fanfare of composers like Kevin Kaska, Gabrieli Canzon, and others, with the evening taking a mellow turn featuring Ewazen’s A Western Fanfare, Shostakovich’s Jazz Suite No. 1, and film music by John Williams, Bjork, Alan Silvestri, and Danny Elfman.
