Colorado Symphony Cancels 2020 Ball Fundraiser

The Symphony’s largest yearly fundraiser has been cancelled in response to concerns and mandates surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic

Mar. 27, 2020 – Denver, CO – The Colorado Symphony Association regretfully announces the cancellation of the April 25, 2020, Colorado Symphony Ball, Masquerade at the Mission Ballroom, in an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19. All sponsors and supporters will be notified directly of the cancellation via email.

Jerome H. Kern, CEO & Chairman of the Board of the CSA said: “We are very disappointed to have to cancel the Ball. It has proved to be the best spring not-for-profit event which hundreds of supporters look forward to every year. This year was going to be special as it celebrates the resurgence of the orchestra from the dire straits it was in 10-years ago and with the support of our partner, AEG Presents, it was to be held in their new Mission Ballroom, a brand new venue for our supporters to experience.”

We will also tie into all the music videos that are currently being produced, bringing our music to this community until we can perform live again.”

“Next year’s Ball will take place April 24, 2021, at The Mission Ballroom. We look forward to seeing even more of you next year. The cancellation aligns with the City and County of Denver in compliance with the revised CDC guidelines recommending that gatherings of 10 people or more be postponed or cancelled through May 11 in response to the COVID-19 virus.

All events at City-owned venues, including Red Rocks Amphitheatre (and Visitor Center), and the Denver Performing Arts Complex including Boettcher Concert Hall, have been suspended through May 11, 2020. This includes gatherings of more than 10 people.

The Colorado Symphony remains in communication with our internal teams, peer organizations, Denver Arts and Venues, the State of Colorado, and the City and Country of Denver to stay on top of this rapidly changing situation. We will continue to follow the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and local health authorities including the Denver Department of Public Health and Environment (DDPHE). Updates to each event status will be conveyed via email as more information becomes available. This web page will also be updated regularly with any changes.

There is no higher priority to our entire Colorado Symphony community than the safety of our guests, musicians, and staff.
