Paul Primus
- Paul joined the Colorado Symphony in 1984 and has been Principal Second Violin since 1985.

Paul (he/him) joined the Denver Symphony in 1984, and was Principal Second Violin from 1985 to 2024. He is now a member of the violin section, rotating between first and second violins.
Originally from Chicago, Paul began violin lessons at age 7. He studied with Daniel Majeske and David Cerone while in high school. He attended Indiana University and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, studying with Laurence Shapiro for his BFA and Leonard Sorkin for his MM.
Paul played for one season with the Colorado Springs Symphony before joining the Denver Symphony. He also served on the faculty of the Eastern Music Festival from 1994 to 2005, Rocky Ridge from 2006 to 2007, and the Lamont Summer Music Academy from 2008 to 2013.
He is a cofounder, along with his wife Barbara Hamilton, of the Colorado Chamber Players, which has completed its 30th season. He has performed hundreds of chamber music concerts and made numerous recordings with this group. Guest artists have included Lynn Harrell, Sharon Isbin, and Jeffrey Kahane.
Paul and Barbara are the proud parents of Josh, a librarian in Denver, and Lily, a harp major at Rice University. Both are pursuing masters degrees.
