Megan Prokes is originally from Buffalo, New York. She began studying the violin at the age of 4, a student of Alice Keith Knowles and later, Mary Cay Neal. She continued her studies at Carnegie Mellon University, where she earned her Bachelor and Master of Fine Arts degrees in violin performance as a student of Cyrus Forough.

Megan has been a member of the Richmond Symphony Orchestra, the Virginia Symphony Orchestra, and the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. Outside of work, Megan enjoys rock climbing, hiking, and spending time with her husband and two stepdaughters. This is her third season with the Colorado Symphony.
