$50,000 Matching Challenge from The Butler Family Fund of The Denver Foundation
Have your donation matched dollar for dollar!
The Colorado Symphony has received a generous matching challenge to raise an additional $50,000 this giving season. With your support, we can unlock this additional $50,000 to support the music you love.
Your donation is eligible for a 100% match, up to $2,500 per donor (up to a total match commitment of $50,000), if you are a New Donor, a Returning Donor, or an Increasing Donor, and your donation meets the eligibility requirements below.
You are a New Donor if you have not previously contributed to the symphony’s annual fund, or your last contribution was before July 1, 2017. The entire amount of your November-December 2022 annual fund contribution (subject to the limits above) qualifies for the match. Thank you for joining our community of supporters!
You are a Returning Donor if your last contribution to the symphony’s annual fund was before July 1, 2021. The entire amount of your November-December 2022 annual fund contribution (subject to the limits above) qualifies for the match. Thank you for choosing to renew your support of live symphonic music!
Your are an Increasing Donor if you have already contributed to the symphony’s annual fund since July 1 ,2022 and you make an additional contribution before year-end. Thank you for investing in the power of the arts in your community! Here’s how to determine the amount of an Increasing Donor’s contribution eligible for the matching grant (subject to the $50,000 total match commitment):
- Step 1: Add up your total contributions to the annual fund in November and December this year.
- Step 2: Add up your total contributions to the annual fund from July 1, 2022 through December 31, 2022.
- Step 3: Add up your total contributions to the annual fund from July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022.
- Step 4: Subtract the amount calculated in Step 3 from the amount calculated in Step 2. This is the “increase” that makes you an Increasing Donor.
- The amount of an Increasing Donor’s contribution eligible for the matching grant is the least of these three:
- $2,500.00
- The amount from Step 1
- The amount from Step 4
- The amount of an Increasing Donor’s contribution eligible for the matching grant is the least of these three:
Qualifying donations must be received, mailed, or charged between November 1-December 31, 2022, be unrestricted annual fund support or restricted to education programs, and be a gift of cash or securities. Ticket donations and gala support (tables, tickets, paddle raise, and auction purchases) are not counted for any purposes of the match.
If you have questions about the eligibility of your gift for the match or the calculation of the amount eligible for the match, email Cecile Forsberg-Kerr, Director of Individual Giving and Strategic Support at cforsbergkerr@coloradosymphony.org. We are happy to assist you.

If you decide to give through the CO Gives Day website, your gift will be receipted by e-mail from the Community First Foundation at the time of giving. We are able to send a copy of your receipt if you don’t receive it or need it resent.
Any gifts made through the CO Symphony website or directly to the CO Symphony via a tax-free giving vehicle will be receipted directly by the Symphony.

No. Giving Tuesday and CO Gives Day are two separate initiatives: the former being national and the latter being state-wide. The Symphony does not often participate in Giving Tuesday, but you can still make a gift at that time if that is part of your giving schedule. If you only plan to donate once, we would encourage you to give on CO Gives Day.
No and yes! If you’d like to start supporting the Symphony with a monthly gift, you may select either option.
