A New Chapter Begins with Beethoven’s Ninth

By Kabin Thomas | Sept 8, 2026

There is something about hearing a great orchestra live that a pair of speakers, even a great pair of speakers can’t completely reproduce.

You can feel it: the audience’s anticipation, the overwhelming sense of community and the high-voltage energy.

CPR Classical welcomes you into Boettcher Concert Hall to feel that power this Friday, September 11, when the Colorado Symphony opens its new season. Music Director Peter Oundjian will lead one of the biggest and most hopeful pieces of music ever written: Ludwig van Beethoven’s mighty “Ninth Symphony.”

That alone is reason to be there.

But for me, there is something else worth celebrating. CPR Classical is expanding our partnership with the Colorado Symphony, presenting their entire Classics Series, along with special performances including popular Studio Ghibli composer Joe Hisaishi, in October, and “A Classical Christmas” in early December.

I love what that says about who we are as two major classical music organizations in Colorado—and what we can do together.

CPR Classical has the privilege of sharing extraordinary music with you 24 hours a day wherever you are. Now, we look forward to further amplifying the best live orchestral music you’ll find in our region, on the air and in the concert hall.

So join us Friday night when CPR Classical’s Monique Brooks Roberts invites you to witness a full orchestra, a powerful chorus, a packed hall, and Beethoven throwing everything he has at you until that final, glorious “Ode to Joy” erupts from the stage.

Now that’s a night worth having!

Can’t come Friday night? You’ll have two more chances to hear the Colorado Symphony perform Beethoven’s “Ninth:” Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13. Get tickets and learn more
