Colorado Symphony principal trombonist John Sipher surprised us with a piece he composed for trombone and looping pedal. Sipher plays a few bars on his instrument, lets the loop pedal record it and play it back, and then adds more intricate layers over the original pattern. The music includes unusual beatboxing and a wall of gorgeous harmonies in the piece's surprisingly tender later passages.

Remember the boy band Hanson? Its members, who got their start in the early 90s, aren't boys anymore. And their most recent partnerships with orchestras nationwide prove it.
