COLORADO SYMPHONY ANNOUNCES LANDMARK NEW YORK CITY TOUR WITH PERFORMANCES ALONGSIDE GREGORY ALAN ISAKOV AT RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL

AND ITZHAK PERLMAN AT CARNEGIE HALL

This pair of performances will showcase the Colorado Symphony’s genre-defying versatility and national artistic reach at two of New York City’s most iconic venues.

Aug. 5, 2025 – Denver, CO – The Colorado Symphony is proud to announce a landmark tour to New York City that will see the orchestra perform two genre-spanning concerts at two of the most iconic venues in the world: Radio City Music Hall and Carnegie Hall. These performances mark a bold new chapter in the Symphony’s national profile and artistic evolution, reflecting its presence at the forefront of American orchestral music.

  • Friday, January 30, 2026 at Radio City Music Hall – Gregory Alan Isakov with the Colorado Symphony
  • Sunday, February 1, 2026 at Carnegie Hall – Itzhak Perlman with the Colorado Symphony

“This is a momentous occasion for our Orchestra, the city of Denver, and the State of Colorado” said Daniel Wachter, President & CEO of the Colorado Symphony. “To be featured on two of New York City’s most legendary stages, alongside artists as singular as Itzhak Perlman and Gregory Alan Isakov, underscores the incredible talent of our musicians as well as the innovative programming and artistic range that defines the Colorado Symphony. We’re honored to represent our city and state on a national stage, bringing the spirit and sound of the Rockies to the heart of Manhattan, while pioneering the future of live symphonic music.”

“This pairing of concerts — one rooted in contemporary songwriting, the other steeped in the classical tradition — speaks to who we are,” said Peter Oundjian, Music Director of the Colorado Symphony. “We embrace a broad spectrum of musical voices, and we believe deeply in the power of collaboration to create something timeless. Performing at Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall in the same weekend is not just a milestone for the Symphony, it’s a statement about the future of orchestral music in America.”

The tour opens on Friday, January 30 with a performance highlighting the intersection of folk and classical music. Colorado’s own Gregory Alan Isakov, whose hushed, poetic songwriting has captivated fans around the globe, reunites with the orchestra for a one-night-only performance at Radio City Music Hall led by Resident Conductor Christopher Dragon. Their past collaborations — including the 2016 album Gregory Alan Isakov with the Colorado Symphony — have drawn critical acclaim and pushed the boundaries of orchestral storytelling.

“Working with Gregory has always felt like creating something deeply emotional and transcendent,” said Christopher Dragon, Resident Conductor of the Colorado Symphony. “His music has this incredible stillness and poetry, and when you pair that with the full orchestra, it becomes something truly special. To bring that experience to a stage like Radio City is an absolute thrill.”

Known for his meditative, evocative songwriting, Isakov’s music transforms when paired with orchestral arrangements, turning intimate narratives into sweeping soundscapes. The Symphony’s long-standing collaboration with Isakov has become one of its most celebrated cross-genre projects, blending classical instrumentation with indie-folk authenticity.

Then, on Sunday, February 1, the Symphony shifts to the hallowed stage of Carnegie Hall, where it will perform alongside Itzhak Perlman, 16-time GRAMMY® Award winner and recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom. One of the most revered violinists of all time, Perlman will perform works that have become synonymous with his artistry, including the haunting theme from Schindler’s List, which he performed for the Oscar-winning film. He will also perform Dvořák’s Romance in F minor and selections from Fritz Kreisler and Carlos Gardel, serving as a showcase of both his virtuosity and the Symphony’s world-class musicianship.

Perlman, who will celebrate his 80th birthday in August, has a storied history of performances alongside the Colorado Symphony. Conducted by Peter Oundjian, the concert marks the culmination of decades of friendship and artistic admiration between the two.

“To collaborate with Itzhak Perlman is always a profound joy, both musically and personally,” added Oundjian. “He brings an incomparable sense of humanity to his playing where every note is infused with wisdom and soul. As a conductor, there’s nothing more rewarding than supporting an artist who connects so effortlessly with audiences. Sharing the stage with him at Carnegie Hall, with this orchestra, will be one of the most meaningful moments of my career.”

The Carnegie program begins with the New York City debut of John Adams’ Frenzy. The second half will feature Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, an ideal showcase of the power and virtuosity of the Colorado Symphony and a dramatic finale to the New York tour.

Together, the two performances offer a compelling portrait of a modern American orchestra — one equally at home interpreting the classical canon with a living legend and collaborating with a modern songwriter to reimagine what symphonic music can be. It’s a hallmark that has earned the ensemble acclaim across the country and deep support from a growing and diverse audience at home in Denver.
