COLORADO SYMPHONY BALL RAISES FUNDS IN EXCESS OF $1 MILLION
May 3, 2017 – Denver, CO – In an evening surpassing expectations, the Colorado Symphony Ball, “Rock and Roll Royalty,” raised over $1 million towards the mission and ongoing operations of the Colorado Symphony. This year’s Colorado Symphony Ball raised money through table sales, individual and corporate contributions, sponsorships, silent and live auctions, and a paddle-raiser, which included a generous matching gift of $50,000 from an anonymous donor.
The Colorado Symphony welcomed Linda Shoemaker and Stephen M. Brett as Event Chairs. Governor John Hickenlooper, First Lady Robin Pringle Hickenlooper, Mayor Michael B. Hancock, and First Lady Mary Louise Lee served as Honorary Co-Chairs. Local rock band Tracksuit Wedding, helmed by lifelong friends Libby Anschutz and Ali Pashel Frankfurt, returned to the Fillmore Auditorium stage, along with the Colorado Symphony’s orchestra.
Centered on performances by the Colorado Symphony and conducted by Associate Conductor Christopher Dragon, the Ball is the largest fundraiser for the Colorado Symphony each year. The event included the presentation of the esteemed Margaret Phipps Award to an individual, organization, or company that demonstrates outstanding commitment to the Colorado Symphony. Recipients of this year’s Margaret Phipps Award were Alexandra (Sandy) Elliott and in memory of John T.M. Wright.
