Colorado Symphony to host Centennial Gala at Mission Ballroom on May 4

A season-long celebration of the Colorado Symphony’s Centennial will culminate in the orchestra’s Centennial Gala at Mission Ballroom on May 4, 2024. The event will feature the Colorado Symphony led by Resident Conductor Christopher Dragon and vocalist Sierra Boggess.

Known world-wide, not only for re-inventing the coveted role of ‘Christine Daae’ in Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera, but for Lord Webber himself going on record to say that “she’s the best, the best Christine certainly.” Boggess portrayed the role in the Broadway, West End, and the televised 25th-Anniversary concert productions of Phantom.

The orchestra will award the 2024 Margaret Phipps Award to the Butler family. Established in 1993, this prestigious award recognizes outstanding contributions and service to the Colorado Symphony and the arts community. The Butler family members have been dedicated advocates of the Colorado Symphony and other arts and service organizations through three generations of service and philanthropy. This esteemed recognition celebrates exceptional commitment to cultural enrichment, philanthropy, and community.

“Our family is deeply honored to be receiving the Margaret Phipps award at the symphony’s Gala on May 4,” the family said in a statement. “The theme of this year’s award is Establishing a Family Legacy through Service & Philanthropy. In our family’s case, the legacy was begun by our parents/parents in law Erna and Brad Butler. As members of the ‘greatest generation,’ Erna and Brad set an example of sustaining their community through contributions of time, expertise, and financial resources. The four of us (Nancy & Tony Accetta, Jim & Sharon Butler) and our children are doing our best to build on that legacy through support of our symphony and other cultural and human service organizations. Collectively, we are just one example of the many families in Colorado that share their personal success to create the greatest possible legacy – a thriving community.”page1image330384

The Centennial Gala will be the organization’s largest fundraising event of the year with funds raised supporting the Colorado Symphony’s mission of inspiring the future of live, symphonic music. The Colorado Symphony annually reaches over a quarter-million Coloradans through innovative artistic collaborations, curating world-class classical programs, and investing in community through award winning educational programs and community partnerships.
