COLORADO SYMPHONY TO PERFORM & RECORD WITH GRAMMY WINNER MASON BATES
Two of Bates’ works will be performed and recorded live this weekend along with Beethoven’s 7th Symphony

Feb. 26, 2019 – Denver, CO – Led by Music Director Brett Mitchell, the Colorado Symphony’s March 1-3 performances of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 will open with a pair of pieces by GRAMMY winner Mason Bates which will be recorded for future release under the Colorado Symphony’s recording label.

Bates’ opera, The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs, was among the winners of the 61st annual Grammy Awards, announced Feb. 10, 2019 by the Recording Academy. Bates will perform live with the Colorado Symphony on his Auditorium for Chamber Orchestra & Laptop during this weekend’s performances and will lead a pre-concert discussion prior to each concert.

“Earlier this month, composer Mason Bates won a Grammy Award for his latest recording, The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs. This weekend, the Colorado Symphony and I are thrilled to welcome Mason back to Boettcher Concert Hall as we perform and record two of his most recent works: Auditorium and his Cello Concerto with virtuoso cellist Joshua Roman,” said Brett Mitchell, Music Director. “The fact that this project will be my first recording on the Colorado Symphony label makes this weekend all the more special.”
