The Colorado Symphony Orchestra will take the stage later this year with Hollywood icon and actor Jeff Goldblum. Here to talk about the performance is the symphony’s chief artistic officer Tony Pierce.
Well, You know, the Colorado Symphony really prides itself on playing across all genres, so we certainly try to offer things for everyone, and jazz is something that we certainly like to dabble in, so. When the opportunity to play with Mr. Goldblum presented itself, we decided to pounce and bring him to town. Why not?
Sure, well, I mean he definitely brings an improvisational element to the concert, right, and the whole experience, you know, he’s traveling with his ensemble that is combining with the full orchestra. And he, he likes to interact with the audience, so it’s definitely going to have some some curveballs coming at us.
Yes, he’s quite the performer and entertainer, so I know that show is going to be incredible.
Alright, so most people know Jeff Goldblum, of course, is an actor from Jurassic Park, Independence Day, most recently, Wicked.
Of course, what might surprise people about him though?
Well, he has a long standing career as a jazz pianist, so he’s a phenomenal musician actually.
I had no idea. OK, so this is not your typical Colorado Symphony collaboration. What made Jeff Goldblum and Mildred Schnitzer Orchestra the right fit for the symphony and for the Denver audience?
Expect from this performance that they won’t be getting from like let’s say going to the movie theater and seeing him in the theaters.
