“The Colorado Symphony is wrapping up its 102nd season this week. That’s amazing. It’s been a season of extraordinary growth and artistic energy, including a soldout tour of New York City, high-profile guest performers, and contemporary entertainment. So, the orchestra we know closing on a strong note with Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, the Resurrection symphony. Why is this one a good one to end with?”
“Well, the Resurrection is a bit our story. Many of of you know probably that the Denver Symphony went bankrupt in 1989 which formed your Colorado Symphony. The Colorado Symphony just returned to Carnegie for the first time after 50 years. So, that’s kind of a little bit the resurrection moment. Denver downtown relies that a little bit and uh it’s a powerful program. I mean Mahler tells the story of struggle, of hope, and of healing and I think the orchestra and the chorus are going to uplift the audiences and transform them. So we think it’s a wonderful strong finish of a extraordinary season.”
