Conductor Rune Bergmann brings a deeply personal connection to the Colorado Symphony’s September 25-27 program, shaped by his Norwegian roots and years spent studying in Finland. From the folk-inspired music of Johan Svendsen to the unmistakable Finnish voice of Jean Sibelius and the sweeping Romanticism of Rachmaninoff, the concert traces a rich Nordic and Russian musical landscape.
Bergmann also reunites with pianist Garrick Ohlsson, a longtime collaborator, for Rachmaninoff’s formidable Third Piano Concerto. Ahead of his return to Denver, Bergmann spoke with us about the music, his collaboration with Ohlsson, and why he considers the Colorado Symphony his “dream team.”
