A dynamic marketer with a keen eye for art direction and a talent for compelling storytelling, Nick Dobreff (he/him) has helped transform the Colorado Symphony’s marketing and communications efforts through captivating writing and engaging visuals. His dedication and passion for the arts have been pivotal in navigating the modern media landscape, helping the symphony thrive and grow as a vital cultural institution in Colorado.
Nick joined the Colorado Symphony in 2017 as the Manager of Publicity and Community Relations and was elevated to Communications and Creative Director in 2021. In his current role, Nick oversees the art direction for the orchestra’s marketing, ensuring that all visual and written materials align with the symphony’s brand and resonate with audiences. He is responsible for writing feature stories highlighting the symphony’s events, musicians, and community impact, and his engaging concert descriptions provide audiences with insightful previews that enhance their concert-going experience. He spearheads the orchestra’s earned media strategy, elevating its visibility through print, digital, television, and radio segments. He also plays a crucial role in maintaining the symphony’s voice across various platforms including press releases, content marketing, and other external communication.
Nick’s career began in professional baseball as the Director of Media Relations for the Birmingham Barons from 2011 to 2014, where he honed his skills in managing media coverage and engaging with the community. Nick also served as the Director of Public Relations for the Colorado Springs Sky Sox from 2014 to 2017, further solidifying his expertise in strategic communication.
His love for music was nurtured from a young age, growing up in a household of fellow musicians who celebrated the arts. In addition to playing the piano and trumpet, he enjoyed a prolific young career in one of Michigan’s top touring youth choirs. This early immersion in music not only honed his appreciation for the arts but also instilled a deep understanding of musical expression and performance. These formative experiences profoundly influenced his career, fueling his passion for connecting audiences with the transformative power of music.
Nick received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Michigan State University and an MBA from Colorado State University. A native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Nick and his wife have made Denver their home, having fallen in love with the sunshine and resplendent beauty of the Rocky Mountains. They enjoy hiking, frequenting concerts at Boettcher Concert Hall, and sharing life with their one-year-old daughter.
