(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Symphony has announced that 19-time Grammy-winning cellist and recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom Yo-Yo Ma will join the orchestra for two outdoor performances, one of which is scheduled for Colorado Springs’ Ford Amphitheater this summer.
According to the symphony’s release about the concerts, the programs will pair Yo-Yo Ma’s unparalleled artistry and skill as a soloist with a “vibrant, all-American-inflected repertoire,” culminating in Dvořák’s “Cello Concerto,” one of the most adored works in the cello canon. The show will also feature John Adams “Short Ride in a Fast Machine,” and Gershwin’s “An American in Paris.”
